What they’re playing Having brought both City Lights and Modern Times to The Glasshouse, we’re buzzing to complete the hat-trick by screening Charlie Chaplin’s The Gold Rush with live orchestra as part of its 100th birthday year celebrations.
Charlie Chaplin’s comedic masterwork turns 100 in 2025. It remains the highest-grossing silent comedy to date and is the film that Charlie Chaplin hoped would be remembered most.
The Gold Rush is a delightful blend of slapstick humour, poignant emotion, and social commentary. The rags to riches tale follows a prospector’s search for fortune in Klondike. Add in romance, timeless gags, and a live orchestra playing the movie score and we think that just about equals a perfect afternoon out.
