Charlie Chaplin’s The Circus is both a bittersweet comic masterpiece and a poetic circus grotesque. As the Tramp, Charlie stumbles into the circus ring while fleeing from the police—and unwittingly becomes the attraction. Between slapstick, tightrope walking, and quiet melancholy, a story unfolds about big dreams, small gestures, and a love that cannot be. With Chaplin’s own music, reconstructed by Timothy Brock, the classic is brought back to life in a live performance with the Bielefeld Philharmonic Orchestra and Bernd Wilden.
