The New School’s College of Performing Arts and Bill Irwin welcome the public to the fifth edition of (Un)Silent Film Night, a performance series in which The College of Performing Arts Theater Orchestra performs live music to classic silent films.

Under the baton of music director, trumpeter, and performance artist, Mark Gould, the CoPA Theater Orchestra, composed of students from Mannes School of Music and The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, will perform Charlie Chaplin’s original score to his classic silent film, The Gold Rush (1925).

Previous editions of this popular event have drawn capacity crowds to the 400-seat Tishman Auditorium and have been hosted by Matthew Broderick, Rob Bartlett, and Ed Rothstein. The series has been critical in advancing the resurgence of film screenings with live music and has presented the world premier of works composed for The Birds, The Immigrant (by Nathan Kamal and Alexis Cuadrado respectively), and an NYC Premier of a score by Hollywood composer Craig Marks for the film Sherlock, Jr.
